Photography is where my work begins, but sometimes the image needs to become something more.

Through layering, texture, colour and the physical qualities of encaustic, I transform photographic fragments into works that move between photography, painting and abstraction. The original image may remain somewhere beneath the surface, but it is altered, obscured and reimagined.

I am interested in that moment of transformation — when a photograph stops being simply a record of a place and becomes something tactile, ambiguous and open to interpretation.

Each work is an exploration of what can emerge when image, material and chance are allowed to interact.
