i’ve long been attracted to seascapes, especially where there is a juxtaposition between the natural landscape and the man made elements within it. As I travel around the coast, I come across these compositions that make me want to photograph them. The process of finding the best composition, along with the use of light, sometimes resulting in multiple visits to the same location, are the elements that give these images the feeling, the emotion that I’m aiming to achieve.

Time - Long Exposure Landscape Photography
So often in the world of photography, we hear the phrase, ‘capturing the moment’. However, this series looks at time as a continuum or slice of time. Exposures are often 4 minutes or even longer, leading to the movement in the clouds and water leading to smooth tonal transitions, which are a key compositional element in these images.

Back to Black - Fine Art Photography
The whole area of black and white photography is one I’ve recently come back to, after many years of only photographing in colour. The tonal relationships and strong compositions are a feature of the series and one I’ll be adding to in the future. I feel that B&W is particularly suited to the more architectural or abstract style of images, which is an area that I am enjoying exploring, as something quite different to my usual style.
Round and Round
Venice - Fine Art Venice Photography
Venice is one of the most iconic cities in the world, one with a long, fascinating and often bloody history. It’s also the first place that I started my practice of landscape photography, more than 10 years ago. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to visit Venice on numerous occasions, capturing both the iconic locations, as well as the lesser known ones that show a different side of Venice, such as the fishing huts on the lagoon or the Lido.

Elemental - Fine Art Photography
This series often makes use of stronger colours and most have been taken around the coastline of the British Isles. Making use of this colour and deeper blacks, these become compositional elements of the image in their own right. Like so many of the images this site, these are often captured at the beginning or end of the day.
Fine Art Equine Photography
I’ve loved horses since I was a child. Something about their dignity and strength, yet having a certain vulnerability as well. It was natural that I would want to photograph these wonderful animals. I‘ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit and photograph the stunning white horses of the Camargue, which are wild and roam around the salt marshes, being looked after and managed by the Gardians, or Camargue ‘cowboys’. I also occasionally get time to photograph horses closer to home as well.
